What is the best time for a Newborn session?
The best time for a Newborn session is within the first 14 days of the baby’s life.

Natural light or Studio light?
Natural light. For the Newborn photo session we need natural light and at least 5×5 feet of open floor space next to a glass door.

How long does a session take?
A session takes up to 3 hours.

Where does the Newborn Session take place?
Most moms want to stay at home, so the newborn session takes place on client’s location, in the comfort of your home.

Do I have necessary props for taking the pictures?
Yes! I’ll bring the newborn posing bag, baskets, baby wraps, blankets, hats, and headbands.
More details there: What I bring for the Newborn session – click here

Some parents willing to buy their own props. Can we use it?
Yes, when you have something cute, adorable, or handmade for our session we can also use it, if it matches my style and your expectations.
Please don’t ask me to use oversized props, the primary focus of the picture has to be your baby!
(I’m not using the props longer than 20 inches)

How I clean my props?
The newborn posing bag is waterproof – so it’s easy to clean.
I wash used wraps and the blanket after each session.

How to prepare for the session?
– keep the baby awake 1-2 hours before the session
– feed the baby and keep its tummy full
– leave on the baby just a diaper, and swaddle the baby in a blanket
– if nursing, make sure you’re eating too
– if nursing, no caffeine
Please prepare wipes, a warm blanket, a hair brush, and a pacifier (if you use it)

Will it be warm?
It will be around 80 degrees around the baby during our session. It does get a bit warm for adults, but my main priority is the comfort of your little baby. Since he will be naked or just diapered for the entire session.
I notice Dads tend to be the ones who complain most about the heat. If you get warm at any time, feel free to take relax in the waiting room away from the heaters.

What if my baby poops?
If your baby poops or pees, IT IS OKAY! I have the waterfroob posing bag and wash all my props every time.
Please prepare the wipes to clean the baby.

Will I send you an email before our session?
Yes! One day before our session I’ll send you an email with instructions on how to prepare for the session.
If you didn’t get the email we most probably do not have the session. Please email or call me.

What we are going to do if the baby is not sleeping?
If the baby is not cranky I will swaddle him/her and keep working.
If the baby is cranky you will feed the baby, change the diaper, and wait for 30 min. Then, if the baby is still cranky, I’ll have to cancel the session (I will keep the travel fee).

What to wear (for parents and siblings)?
Solid color, mid-tone pastel colors work great on the picture.
Avoid logos, big prints, complex patterns.
Try to coordinate with each other. Similar colors or similar styles are the best for family picture.
We will use the similar color wrap for the newborn baby.

Can the parents be included in the picture?
Yes. If you have the appropriate background. We need a solid color wall with good natural light or beautiful backyard.

Can siblings be included in the picture?
Yes. If they cooperate. Please prepare the candy 🙂

Can pets be included in the picture?
Yes. Friendly pets can be included in the picture if they cooperate.
The pets will be sitting next to the basket (will not touch the newborn props). Please prepare the treats for your dog.

Can parents take the video/photo during the session?
No. Please, no photo and video during the session. I’ll only one photographer there.

What do I shoot with?
I shoot with my two full frame cameras: Nikon D810, Nikon D700.
My favorite lenses: Nikkor 50mm f1.4, Nikkor 24-70mm f2.8.
